MEET THE FOUNDER & CEO

Hey, I'm Kris!

’m Kris Williams, owner of Legion K9 — a veteran-owned dog training company in North Idaho. My passion for dogs began at 10 years old and deepened during my Army deployment in Afghanistan, where I witnessed the purpose, loyalty, and capability of highly trained working dogs. After my military service and a brief time in law enforcement, I attended a 13-week Trainer/Handler Academy in Virginia, where I trained an explosive/firearm detection K9 named Laika and developed the foundation of the training system I use today.

Legion K9 now operates out of a 4,000 sq. ft. facility in Hayden, Idaho and was proudly voted Idaho’s Best Dog Trainer. We specialize in aggression and reactivity, obedience, working-dog development, and service/therapy dog training for individuals needing task-based support, stability, and long-term handler education.

I’m passionate about results — helping dogs gain confidence, structure, and clarity, and helping owners understand their dog on a deeper level. Whether it’s a challenging aggression case, a high-drive working dog, or a service dog requiring advanced task work, every program is tailored to the dog’s temperament, drive, and real-world needs.

To support that mission, I’m continually building an elite staff of trainers who share the same commitment to excellence, accountability, and purpose-driven training.

At Legion K9, we don’t just train dogs.

We build reliable, confident dog-and-handler teams through proven, intentional systems.

Day Training

Program

Professional training during the day — your dog goes home at night.

Our Day Training Program is designed for owners who want solid obedience, better behavior, and real progress without an overnight stay. Your dog works with our trainers throughout the day and returns home each afternoon, making it a great fit for busy families or dogs who don’t need board and train.

How It Works

You drop your dog off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. During the day, we work on structured obedience, leash handling, confidence, neutrality, and exposure in real environments. We regularly train in public places so your dog learns to perform around distractions—not just in a training room.

You’ll also get updates and coaching so you know exactly what your dog is working on and how to continue the progress at home.

What We Focus On

  • Structured heeling and leash manners

  • Sit, down, stay, recall, and place

  • Neutrality around dogs, people, noise, and movement

  • Confidence-building for nervous or unsure dogs

  • Real-world exposure (stores, parks, trails, etc.)

  • • Reactivity or aggression work if placed in a behavior-mod tier

  • Clear communication using leash and e-collar (off-leash programs)

  • Training goals tailored to your dog’s needs

Why Day Training Works

Your dog gets professional training and real structure throughout the day while still sleeping in their own home. We handle the heavy lifting, and you learn how to follow through with the private sessions and homework we provide. It’s a balanced system that gets reliable results without the stress of long-term boarding.
